2. What are the COVID-19 requirements for International Tourists arriving in Maldives Island?

      Before Departure to the Maldives

  • A confirmed booking in a tourist establishment registered with the Ministry of Tourism is mandatory.
  • All tourists are required to hold a negative PCR test for COVID-19 conducted 96 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure from the first port of embarkation en route to the Maldives.
  • All tourists are required to submit an online Health Declaration Form within 24 hours prior to departure through the IMUGA portal. In addition, tourists should present the lab result in paper or electronic format during the airline check-in.
  • The document containing the PCR test result should state:
  • Name of the passenger (name as in passport – SurName & GivenName)
  • Name and address of the testing laboratory
  • Type of test stated as a PCR test
  • Date and time of sampling
  • Result

     On Arrival to Maldives

  • All tourists are granted a 30-day free visa upon arrival.
  • Quarantine upon arrival is not required. However, if the passenger has a fever, cough or shortness of breath on board the flight or upon arrival, it should be informed to the local Health Protection Agency.
  • All tourists must undergo thermal screening at the arrival terminal.
  • All tourists should wear masks.
  • Hands should be sanitized.
  • Physical distancing should be ensured.
  • All tourists are encouraged to install the Contact Tracing app “TraceEkee.”

     Departure from Maldives

  • Tourists must undergo an exit screening prior to departure from the resort.
  • Routine testing for COVID-19 is not required prior to departure from a resort, however, during exit screening, if any tourist is found to have fever or symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 within the prior 14 days, they must undergo PCR testing for COVID-19.
  • For tourists who require COVID-19 test results to return to their countries of origin or another destination, testing services are available in the Maldives. We can arrange this through the destination or resort representative.

  • November to April. Northeast monsoon from November to April is sunny.
  • May to October is considered Rainy Season (The Southwest monsoon)
  • Year-round temperature hot tropical climate. The average high temperature is 31.5OC and the average low temperature is 26OC.

5. Will you handle our flight and hotel bookings as well?

All nationalities receive a 30-day visa on arrival, provided that you have a valid passport, an onward ticket to continue your journey, and an Accommodation reservation.

We recommend to all of our customers to help protect you and your travel investment against the unexpected.

  • Allied Insurance Company, together with the Ministry of Tourism, launched a COVID-19 insurance policy, focusing on tourists visiting Maldives.
  • This insurance policy called “Allied Inbound” comprises two options Allied Inbound (approx. Cost USD$25 for 7days) and Allied Inbound Plus (approx. Cost USD$35 for 7days) covering medical charges, isolation facility charges, emergency medical transportation charges and interment charges.
  • Tourists who are interested in this insurance should apply for the plan 24 hours prior to their arrival. We will assist you through the resort establishment in which we book your accommodation.

9. What is the Currency used in the Maldives?

The Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) is the local currency. We recommend you to carry USD$. All major credit cards are accepted in the country.
How do I travel to / from the Resorts in Maldives Island?

  • Speedboat transfer is the norm to reach to resorts close to the International Airport. Scheduled ferries also operate from Male’ to many of the atolls.
  • The rest is covered by seaplane or domestic flight. Several daily flights operate from Velana International Airport to the 12 domestic and international airports in the country.
  • If you are travelling to Male’ you can take a taxi from the airport.

10. Can I bring alcohol and liquor into the Maldives?

You are not allowed to bring liquor to the Maldives. However, all resorts and hotels other than hotels in the capital Male’, offer world famous brands of liquor and other alcoholic beverages.

11. Do I need to carry a Plug Adapter to Maldives?

The Electricity supply is 240 volts and mostly power plugs and sockets are of type D and G (British origin). You may carry an adapter.
